Can you introduce yourself and explain your role in the company?

My name is Chloe and I’m Head of Engagement at The Resume Writers – your first point of contact when enquiring into our services, and the person you’ll get if you call or email through. I manage interactions, and experiences between the client and the team.

How long have you been a part of this organisation?

I’ve been with the team now for two years.

What is your background?

Oddly enough, I was a senior creative stylist and master colourist at highly regarded Hobart salons for 10 years. I still moonlight as a stylist but have been busy working with The Resume Writers and doing a little study in business and communications.

What excites you the most about working here at The Resume Writers?

The varied interaction and being able to provide assistance to people, being part of a team that genuinely wants to empower people in their professional lives and being able to see that happen.

Can you provide guidance or assistance to individuals who are uncertain about their career path?

Helping people who are uncertain about their career paths is a rewarding experience, as it allows for providing valuable insight and reassurance. It’s common for many people to feel uncertain in their career journey! Reviewing documents like applications and resumes enables me to get a feel for individuals’ strengths and abilities, offering reassurance that transitioning careers doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With exposure to numerous applications, I can offer guidance tailored to each person’s unique requirements, whether it’s general advice or specific recommendations.

What do you wish people knew before they got on their quote review or consult calls?

That there is no package or certain price – its all developed according to individual needs. That and that the whole process is mouldable and organic, we are a small team that want to help each person – we’re not here to hard sell you a stock standard cover letter/resume.

What are the most common applications people need help with?

Government applications. Selection Criteria. This is because largely the steps to understanding what is required are so many before you even start writing, which is challenging enough.

What kind of calls do you find the most challenging?

The ones that don’t answer? [laughs] I can’t help you if you book and then disappear! No, I think even though I’m here to assist and give answers to your questions I don’t know or claim to know everything so when something is outside the norm or a little obscure its hard to give advice or quote information on the spot – I need some time to digest and consult the team because I want information to be accurate. This isn’t usually a problem though and its always good to be learning and collaborating to problem solve!

What job applications confuse people the most?

Government applications and the specifics involved, the need for directed content as opposed to general cover letters. Requirements change frequently and it’s hard to know where to look for these instructions if you don’t have experience doing so. Additionally, individuals often face difficulties condensing their narratives within specified word limits. Writing about ourselves isn’t enjoyable for most people, and it becomes even more daunting when confined to a set space, whether that space is more expansive or restricted.

How many people do you speak to per day?

It varies, contact comes through multiple avenues. I take care of replying to quote forms fills, email enquiries, phone calls both booked as consults and reviews as well as calls that come through our 1800 number. So, there is always a lot of interaction through multiple platforms all day.

How is information relayed to the writing team, and do you work with other staff members?

The process from start to finish is collaborative and while I am maybe the first person you speak to, we do work together to make sure information is accurate, informative and helpful – and everyone’s time is used effectively.

How do you put together a quote?

Quotes are based around each individuals needs and application needs. We look at all the requirements of the content we are writing, what information we already have regarding your history and skills and how we need to structure our writing. Time is then allocated according to all of these factors.

What is the most common question people have about the process?

Apart from cost, people want to know how we get the information we need and how we write the documents. It all happens in the information gathering call.

How can people contact you to get a quote and what is the best way to do this?

They can call, email or fill in the quote form!
