Match-rate scores are useful but they're not the whole story. Here's how senior recruiters and writers actually read them.
Likely filtered out
Your resume is missing significant keywords from the role. Either the resume needs a meaningful rewrite, or the role isn't a strong match for your experience. Both are worth knowing.
Borderline
You'll make it past some ATS systems but not the strict ones. Worth tightening keywords, restructuring your skills section, and rewording responsibilities to mirror the job's language.
Strong
Your resume passes the ATS filter. Now the question becomes whether the human on the other side finds it compelling — formatting, narrative and achievement framing matter at this stage.
One caveat. ATS scores measure keyword match — they don't measure how well your resume tells your story, positions you for the role, or stands out to a hiring panel. A strong ATS score is necessary but not sufficient. Real resume quality lives in the layer above.
